St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in North Vancouver is looking for an outstanding part-time, permanent Office Administrator. The Office Administrator is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the church office as a resource and hub of all communications, publishing and administration for the parish community. Reporting to the Priest and Church Wardens, the Office Administrator works as part of a team with the Priest, Church Wardens, staff and volunteers to provide a welcoming office environment to parish members and visitors alike. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required, as are excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency, accounting knowledge and the ability to maintain a friendly, professional, productive environment as expected in a church administrative setting.
The position is 19 hours per week spread over five mornings Tuesday to Saturday. The closing date for this posting is April 2, 2023 and starting date for the position is anticipated to be April 20, 2023. A synopsis of the position is below and full details are in the attached Job Description.

Main responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Office Administration and Communication
• Welcoming and greeting visitors during office hours
• Preparing and disseminating service bulletins, weekly announcements, web-based newsletters and other parish documents in paper and electronic formats
• Handling mail, telephone and email correspondence and inquiries in confidence
• Updating church website using online resources
• Maintaining church documents and databases including recording and updating personal information
• Maintaining and ordering office supplies and equipment; facilitating repairs as needed
• Tracking parish compliance with Diocesan Screening in Faith Policy and training requirements
• Preparing the annual Vestry report by coordinating reports from the priest, staff and parishioners
• Taking minutes at the annual Vestry meeting, Trustee meetings and other meetings as needed
• Preparing information reports for the Priest, Church Wardens, Parish Council and the Diocese as required
• Maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
• Following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes Accounting:
• Reviewing and posting invoices and deposits, issuing cheques, making bank deposits and printing financial reports Property and Rental Administration:
• Handling rental inquiries for church facilities including coordinating bookings, preparing rental contracts and keeping schedules
• Welcoming and directing technicians, contractors and other vendors
Key requirements include:
• Diploma or certificate in office administration, business or other relevant discipline
• 2 or more years of experience working in an administrative capacity
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated bookkeeping knowledge
• Good organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
• Computer knowledge and proficiency with: iStudio Publisher, Apple Pages and Numbers, Powerchurch, Simply Accounting, MS Office, MS Works, Outlook, Internet
• Works well independently and part of a team
• Familiarity with Anglican Church of Canada an asset
