What Easter means is that for us Christians the light of love from which we are all made has the potential to change the world.  The resurrection of Jesus means the way of peace; the power of hope, the truth of joy and the endless transformative capacity of love cannot and will not be extinguished.  What Easter means is that every act of love that we do for one another means something, and that something is significant in the act itself and in the greater plans of God.  I do believe to be true that one day war will end, poverty will cease, inequality will be overcome, and prejudice will become a thing of history.

Never underestimate the power of one small act of love given to another.  In fact, Jesus showed us this is how we are going to change the world for the better.  The Easter story empowers all of us to be disciples of love and agents for change.  Early on the first day of the week and in the darkest of all places a light shone forth.  That light still radiates from there and shines on all of us everywhere.  That light was a miracle, and we all are capable of miracles through the love that light still brings to us.  The same is true of Easter.  That small light that dared to shine in the darkest of all places is still growing, still changing the world.  The light of great and ever living hope is literally in the grasp of our hands – let it shine.  Jesus Christ is risen; He is risen indeed.  Hallelujah.  Amen.
