Christian Formation is a lifelong process of living into our baptismal covenant and promises. This includes, but is not limited to, Christian Education. As children of God, we are called into a relationship with God, which we can develop through reading his spiritual writing, as portrayed in the Holy Bible.
We come together on Zoom for Lent and Advent study sessions. Click here for an example of one of the series we offered.
St. John’s parish has proudly participated in the University of the South Sewanee’s most comprehensive and accredited Education for Ministry program (EFM), which encompasses the study of theology, scripture, church history and development of faith.
Over many years, St. John's has celebrated, hosted and led communal retreats such as the Women’s Silent Retreat, taking place at the Bethlehem Retreat Centre in Nanaimo. In recent years, we have hosted themed Quiet Days including for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
During the week, the parish rejuvenates the retreat experience in the Sounds of Silence, a unique prayer group that meets on Monday evenings to develop our spirituality in silence.
The Diocese of New Westminster also runs Camp Artiban that provides retreats and programs for people of all ages. Please click here for more information.
We firmly believe that Christian Education can lead to a richer understanding of our faith and broaden the experience of our journey. We welcome new ideas and are always looking for innovative educational programming. If you have any questions or ideas for us please do contact the Church Office.
