"A little child, a shining star, a stable rude, the door ajar. Yet in that place, so crude, forlorn, the Hope of all the world was born."

When we light the the Christ Candle it can mean many things, but it most certainly includes this.  The love of God and the love that we share with one another can and does change lives and will have the final word in reality.  What the Christ Candle represents for me is that whatever love is to overcome, love will overcome it.  It may well take time.  It may take a great deal of patience.  It may take extra healthy doses of forgiveness, but love will overcome it.  That is the unexpected gift from God to us at Christmas. - The Rev. Patrick Blaney
